What the BBB says about choosing a Wedding Photographer Wisely!

I found this great article on the BBB this morning about choosing Wedding Photographers. Thought I would share with followers and potential clients!!

Among the saddest complaints Better Business Bureaus receive concern wedding photographers who do not deliver what was promised. The vast majority of professional photographers will indeed provide unforgettable images of your special day. But you need to do some research beforehand.

The BBB offers the following suggestions to prospective brides and grooms:

• Ask for photographer recommendations from family, friends and co-workers.
• Check with the BBB for reports on the photographers you are considering.
• Schedule interviews with two or three to get a feel for the types of services they offer, the quality of their work and related fees.
• Ask the photographer if he/she is the one who will be photographing your wedding. If so, that should be stated in the contract. If not, request to meet personally with the photographer who will be shooting your wedding and review photos from several events before making a decision.
• The price should not be the only determining factor, but you should know what fees you will be charged for what services.
• Does the photographer work with an assistant? If so, is that included in the fee?
• Ask for references and talk to previous clients. A photographer who is reluctant to provide references is of questionable quality.
• Is the photo package fixed or customized? How many photos are included and what about reprints, enlargements and albums?
• What is the time frame for delivery of proofs and other products? Is there a Web site to view your images? Can you keep the proofs or negatives?
• What type and how many cameras will be used? Is color and black-white photography included?
• What is the payment schedule? Is a deposit required; if so, how much and by when?
• What types of photographs can you expect – formal, informal or spur-of-the-moment?
• Does the photographer know the policy of your church, synagogue or other institution; some have very specific rules regarding photography.
• Obtain a written contract that details every service to be provided and the name of the photographer who will shoot your event; the location, date and time length of all events; the type of package; a list of guaranteed prices for enlargements and any additional charges, like taxes or travel fees. The contract should also specify what happens if your photographer doesn’t show up, as well as the cancellation/refund policy.

Make Up Deluxe by Julie Olson

I had the pleasure of working with Julie Olson a few weeks back, she hired me to take some head shots and detail shots for her website. I was very excited to do so! Julie did my make-up for my wedding, nearly 3 years ago now, she did a GREAT job!!! These photos were taken during a brief break from the rain at the Carneros Inn in Napa, CA. Thank you to Brooke Baglietto for allowing us the unique opportunity to utilize this exquisite backdrop!
Did you hear? The Easter bunny was seen around Rohnert Park, CA recently. I happened to catch this bunny in my living room!! LOL!

Easter bunny or not, XOXO Photography can bring this portable studio set-up to the comfort of your own home! Thats right! I know how much work it is to pack up children to get them somewhere. Well, I will come to you! Make an appointment today!

Bundle trys something besides babyfood.............

I would say by this photo that Bundle enjoyed her tofu and blueberries! What a riot, what she liked best was the HUGE mess she got to make! After this meal, she went directly in the bath.

This is the adorable Mr. Keaton! What is so special about this session is that all of the photos were shot on location at his grandparent's home in Petaluma! Such a cutie, but very serious! I think I may have gotten a few smiles :) He loved taking in all of the nature and animals surrounding the property. Glad the rain finally let up so that we could get these shots!

Sullivan Family

WOW!! This family was a LOT of fun, can you tell?? I love it when I have a fun family with kids that are total hams!!! It makes for great pictures. Capturing them just as they are! Candid pics are the best, I will do the posed pics also, but I am not one to pose the family perfectly. I just let them do their thing and snap away..............more pics to follow!

Rain, rain............GO AWAY!

Sigh...................yes, yes, we need the rain here in California, but my creative side is going nuts! I want to be out there using my camera, learning, relaxing, and editing photos! Poor little 18 month old Keaton. I have been working with his grandma to take his photos for at least a month. Each scheduled day, it's pouring! Eventually, Spring will be here, and my camera and I will be back in action! Thanks for letting me vent!

Valentine's Day is just around the Corner!

Hi all!

Check out these new Valentine's Day themed photos of little miss Bundle. If you don't know, Anniston's nickname is Bundle. Long story short, after I would change her and swaddle her (when she was a mere 8 lbs) I would look at her, and call her my "bundle of love". That then turned into bundle. The nickname has caught on, most family and friends refer to her as bundle! Anyways, enough about us! I would LOVE to create some similar shots for your family and friends to enjoy for Valentines Day! FYI, check out this site for some really cute Valentine's Day cards you can personalize with one of my photos!! Imagine receiving one in the mail for a valentine!!

Photos from Last week's shoot!

So here are some of the photos from last weekend's shoot at Green String Farm in Petaluma, CA. Beautiful location, and beautiful family! However, the weather was less than desirable...........my car read 48 degrees! We were freezing, but they were trooopers! We managed to get a lot of great shots! I have to say that this is a very handsome family, mom is 6 months pregnant with a little boy and was glowing! I look forward to doing another family shoot with them in a few months with the new addition!

Shoot Today!

Due to the weather, my camera has been getting a bit dusty :( I think I have around 4 sessions pending due to weather! Guess thats how it goes in January. Today I am working with a lovely couple-newly weds with also a little baby boy on the way! We are headed out to Green String Farms in Petaluma, I think it will make a really unique, and fun backdrop. I hope to capture a mix of maternity and belated wedding shots for the happy couple! Come back soon to see the results!
